Katherine Tattersall

Katherine is the Co-Chair of the IOC Intergovernmental Oceanographic Data and Information Exchange (IODE) Ocean Biodiversity Information System (OBIS) and leader of the CSIRO National Collections and Marine Infrastructure Information and Data Centre (NCMI IDC). The NCMI IDC is manages data from Australia's Marine National Facility (MNF) and other CSIRO marine and atmospheric research groups and hosts the Australian Node of OBIS. Katherine collaborates with partners on Australian and international earth science and biodiversity data and environmental indicator projects. She has worked with the Australian National Data Service (ANDS, now ARDC) as the Tasmanian Research Data Specialist, focusing on research data vocabularies/ontologies, cross-domain metadata and data infrastructure integration, and FAIR data publishing. She has also worked for the Australian Ocean Data Network (AODN), the data management facility of the Australian Integrated Marine Observing System (IMOS), collaborating with research leaders and software developers to help build data and metadata management infrastructure, processes and standards. Katherine has been a member of fisheries research and stock assessment teams at the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS) and the CSIRO Pelagic Research Group, with a focus on spatial analysis of fisheries data, biologging and coastal ecosystem mapping.
