Katherine Tattersall

Katherine is the Co-Chair of the IOC Intergovernmental Oceanographic Data and Information Exchange (IODE) Ocean Biodiversity Information System (OBIS) and a data steward and manager of a marine research data centre, with a background in marine science research and data handling. She has worked with the Australian National Data Service (ANDS, now ARDC) as the Tasmanian Research Data Specialist, focusing on research data vocabularies/ontologies, cross-domain metadata and data infrastructure integration, and FAIR data publishing. Katherine supported Tasmanian institutions and national marine data ARDC grant awardees. She has worked for the Australian Ocean Data Network (AODN), the data management facility of the Australian Integrated Marine Observing System (IMOS), collaborating with research leaders and software developers to help build data and metadata management infrastructure, processes and standards. Katherine has been a member of fisheries research and stock assessment teams at the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS) and the CSIRO Pelagic Research Group, with a focus on spatial analysis of fisheries data, biologging and coastal ecosystem mapping.
