Sebastiaan van de Velde
Sebastiaan van de Velde is a marine biogeochemist who combines fieldwork and experimental laboratory incubations with modeling at the local, regional, and global scale, in both modern and past oceans. After doing his PhD at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium), he spent two years as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California, Riverside (USA) before returning to Belgium as a senior researcher at the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences, the Université Libre de Bruxelles, and the University of Antwerp. Since August 2024 he has a joint lecturer position in marine carbonate chemistry between the University of Otago and Niwa Wellington.
