Tanya Dodgen 2024 Australian Marine Sciences Association Annual Meeting combined with NZMSS

Tanya Dodgen

I am a PhD candidate at Queensland University of Technology (Brisbane, Australia). My project involves developing a better understanding of where coral rubble exists across the Great Barrier Reef and where rubble might be a problematic feature that could benefit from restoration interventions. This is the marine equivalent of needing to understand soil type before one can choose areas on land that might benefit from restoration activities like tree planting. Prior to beginning my PhD I spent 8+ years working in learning design, science education, and applied sustainability. I returned to university to pursue a PhD because I am interested in lecturing and in improving my quantitative ecology skills and knowledge.
