Kelsie Fractal
I'm a PhD student at IMAS, focusing on the balance between stakeholder interests and habitat conservation in our estuaries and coastal environments. My current research is centred around seagrass ecology, encompassing the effects of pollution on seagrasses and methods of seagrass restoration. My goal is to establish best-practice restoration methodologies that can be employed in large-scale projects, allowing us to reclaim lost seagrass habitats. I am also studying the drivers of natural seagrass recovery in Tasmania as well as the epiphytic community and microbiome of seagrass leaves to better understand the use of epiphyte cover as an indicator of seagrass stress.
