Nicole Hamre

Nicole is a researcher at the University of Western Australia and her research focusses on marine recreational use and aims to develop quantitive bio-economic models to inform marine spatial planning. Recently, Nicole has been working closely with The Esperance Tjaltjraak Native Title Aboriginal Corporation (ETNTAC). ETNTAC and the WA Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) are planning joint-management of a marine park across Wudjari Sea Country on the South Coast of Western Australia. Nicole's work has involved training ETNTAC Healthy Country Plan rangers to conduct social research surveys to understand marine recreation values of the local community, these map-based surveys are designed to inform the planning of the proposed marine park.
