Katherine Burnham

The aim of my PhD research is to obtain a more complete understanding of the factors influencing recruitment of the green-lipped mussel, kūtai or Perna canaliculus, and apply these findings to the development of effective methods for the restoration of historically depleted mussel reefs in Aotearoa. More generally, I have a passion for studying restoration ecology and a background studying the impact of anthropogenic change on marine ecosystems, specifically the impact of climate change on species physiology, behavior, and trophic interactions.
