I am managing the Tayaritja Sea Country Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) project. The proposed Tayaritja Sea Country IPA is in the north-east of Tasmania, extending around the Furneaux Group of Islands. This project has been funded by the Australian Government through the Sea Country IPA Program included in the Oceans Leadership Package. This is an exciting project, which will link island-based conservation efforts with Sea Country monitoring and management. It is also the first Sea Country IPA project in Lutruwita/Tasmania. Later this year we will be consulting widely on a draft management plan for the proposed IPA.
