Gage Clawson
Gage is an environmental data scientist with a background in marine ecology and management. Gage is originally from North Carolina, USA, where he graduated with bachelor’s degrees in Statistics & Analytics and Music. Following his undergraduate studies, Gage obtained his master’s in Environmental Science and Management from the University of California, Santa Barbara’s Bren School.
Gage has worked with the Ocean Health Index team and the Halpern Lab at the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis, where he applied data science to communicate the range of benefits people can sustainably derive from healthy oceans and food production systems, including nutritious food and food security, jobs and livelihoods, recreational opportunities, and cultural value. Today, Gage is a PhD candidate at IMAS quantifying the impacts of aquaculture-related pressures on marine and terrestrial biodiversity and ecosystem function.
