Jonathan M Werry
Jonathan has over 20 years of extensive experience in marine research. His background includes the use of telemetry (satellite, acoustic and radio tracking) for understanding movement and migration of large sharks, marine turtles and penguins. He has led numerous remote area marine expeditions with significant offshore experience in the Southern Ocean and extensive experience in the remote tropics. Jonathan has undertaken research programs in trophic ecology (estuarine, coastal, and oceanic systems) and general marine ecology (fish, coral, artificial reef and marine megafauna). He has been involved in and reviewed marine environmental impact assessments including the development of an Environmental Risk Assessment (ERA) for shark and ray interaction with offshore infrastructure in Australian waters. He has provided subject-matter expertise for regulatory authorities and expert advice to the offshore renewable sector, oil and gas, marine aquaculture, international fisheries, conservation agencies and universities. Jonathan enjoys spending time surfing, diving and travelling to remote areas.
