The growing concerns about the impacts of human-induced climate changes on marine ecosystems have resulted in an increase in efforts to collate observed changes and to predict changes. Although some Regional Fisheries Management Organisations have started to consider the implications of such changes on their own processes and decisions, many face a paucity of data and insufficient resources to adequately address this important issue. This paper reviews the international initiatives and academic literature to build a matrix of possible actions for mitigation and adaptation, summarises efforts made thus far by southern hemisphere regional bodies responsible for fisheries management against that matrix and makes recommendations on steps going forward.
