Summary

Seagrass habitats globally face rapid decline due to various factors like development and climate change, necessitating proactive restoration strategies. With ongoing initiatives in Australia supported by research, Traditional Ecological Knowledge, and prioritisation frameworks, there's momentum to expand restoration efforts. This workshop examines how we scale up sustainable seagrass restoration, focusing on prioritisation frameworks, support infrastructure (e.g. seagrass nurseries), and business models. By convening researchers, practitioners, and funders, the workshop seeks to mobilise collective action, foster collaboration, and develop a strategic roadmap for restoration. Using a worked example from the Great Barrier Reef, the workshop will provide practical insights for scaling up restoration efforts.
